Valentines…

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Love is in the air everyone. Its been too long that I had abandoned my post. So now I’m gonna post something. And since Love is in the air, let us talk bout none other than the day the world dedicates itself to Love, Valentines…

February 14. The day we pay astonishing prices for flowers, extravagant prices for dinner sets, higher prices for movie tickets that come with some door gifts which do not cost as much, mostly, paying the price of rushing to book dinner, movies, flowers and end up having to sit very near another couple or couples at dinner where everyone can hear each others’ conversations. Notice that the key point stressed in the entire paragraph was on the word ‘PRICE’?

Many would think why need we ONLY celebrate love on one particular day? What about the other 364 days in the year? More so, we can love one another on any other day and pay normal prices for the above mentioned. However, that is actually being too extreme to think of it like that. This world has many special days dedicated to different things. So Feb 14th is like just a day in their turn to have a celebration all round mother nature’s green earth, in every country, culture and race. So the purpose is good. Just the business part of it, takes advantage to raise the prices. I guess everyone wins!

So, last year I took my darling to a set dinner at TGIF, One Utama. Had an experience I won’t say I’ll remember but I guess it made us realise what is more important for dinner on Valentines. I spent quite a bit last year. This year though, I spent very cheap! Hehehe. But that doesn’t mean I am stingy k. just that we decided to make Valentines more personal. So I ordered the flowers in advance, got little discount, early bird. On 14th Feb, was a Thursday, so she had classes at night so I decided to go for training. I can’t ask her to skip class so we decided to postpone our Valentines dinner to a weekend and we planned to cook something up by ourselves. Just the 2 of us. Will be cool! We’re doin it this weekend.

So this year’s Valentines started off good, then became weird and bit sad, but ended great! There was a Lion Dance performance at the office lobby in the morning, so we managed to catch it. Was good! They gave away oranges as usual but after that, they gave away roses! But sadly, the roses Nampak macam sudah Lion1 tengah maLion_2ti dah. Haa! Got a call from her later that she had received my flowers. Apparently, the only one in her office to receive! Feel honoured mar. hahaha. If she still in previous company with me, many flowers came for the lucky girls in the office, so at least, I let her shine a little in her new company. Hehehe. :p

Then I got another call, she had to go see a doctor as her foot had an infection. So she had to cancel class and stayed home. 5.30pm sharp, office almost cleared instantly! Leaving one lonely soul with no Valentine dinner and date…so went to train to sweat it out. After training, drove to her house to see her. Heart saddened on the sight of my dear who was sick on Valentines. To make sure she GETS a Valentines, I turned on a song on my phone, to the beautiful duet of Dolly Parton & James Ingram’s “The Day I Fall in Love”. Took her and we just slowed danced there in her room. The song took about 4 minutes and then the effect was Great! What it was, I won’t tell…hehehe. Go ask her. So there you have it, my Valentines took a total of 4 minutes! But it was well worth it and we look forward Roses1_1 Roses2 Roses_3 to our skills in the kitchen this comin weekend. J

Don’t get me wrong, all those fancies, the restaurants, movies etc, they’re definitely great and your loved one will truly enjoy it. Not because of the price nor place, but because they are in each others’ company. That is the most Important regardless is its Valentines, or a Birthday, or whatever the case, sharing it with your loved one is the feeling like no other!

“A long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away,

2 individuals had mediocre luck on Valentines day…

Soon thereafter, they found each other,

Starting a life together, this coming December…

With these red roses, expressing my feelings like no others,

Thus my dear, here it is I say again,

Happy Valentines Day!”
