!!! Kumon TOP 10 !!!

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

I wonder if anyone in the office remembers these moments. So my TOP 10 most Memorable Moments in KUMON :

10.     The “match-making” journey & story that I went through, thanks to many of my seniors who have left, in particular, Donna!

9.       Bali! 1st ever Company Trip I had, and still remains the BEST cause I boycott the other following 2. haha!!! It was where I got one step closer, and MAN! did I love those memorable moments. Remember singing the “Shaolin Soccer” song at the back of the bus? That was hilarious!!!

8.         Hong Kong & Bangkok Conference! Especially Hong Kong. The weather was murder! But the food was great! JUMBO restaurant is gooooooood!!! And the unfortunate incident involving one of our Instructors getting sick, having me leave the hotel at 4am to assist Persis in ensuring this Instructor gets her feet firmly on Malaysian ground cuz the airport authorities did not allow her to board the plane that day. All turned out fine…Bangkok was more fun cause we all hung out in a group! F****** huge shopping place they had @ Chat Tu Chat.

  1.      Gatherings during my trips down to JB! The drinks, pool, drinks, gossips, drinks, jokes & …DRINKS!!! Hahaha! Never underestimate middle aged people.   Never underestimate the power of alcohol, the way it can make you leak secrets a nd reveal who you really are…But was a damn fun bunch to drink with!

  1.     My Biz Trips to Ipoh! The food, the air, the water, the beansprouts, the girls &    the White Coffee!!! Its like a place to de-stress and indeed it is. Climbing the hill during the Jungle Trekking was a great experience, tasting the wonderous, aromatic and delicious white coffee is a must, the snow white beautiful skin & complexion of the girls is just amazing! Slurping fruits! The town that serves the nations BEST food!

5.      The Business Trips to Hong Kong, short one in June 2006 and a better one in January 2007! The weather this year, 2007 was better as it was at the ending of winter, so still cool and nice. Food is FANTASTIC! Banyak food tak-halal. Haha! The learning was intense and schedule tight but was the best training we (Dennis & I) had in Kumon. That gave us the knowledge on the new hope we have for the company. Sad to say, the more than RM 20,000 spent to send both of us there are still not being used for the betterment, yet it seems like money well wasted so far as stuck up minds and power-craziness is halting the true path of the Company. Indeed the Founder, Mr TK WILL BE TURNING IN HIS GRAVE!!!

  1.     The 1st New Staff Training at the Regional Headquarters in Singapore! It was the very first time such a training was designed, and we were the FIRST EVER batch from the 8 countries in our region. We called ourselves, the GENKI group! Cause we ARE GENKI and it seems our group is decreasing, sad cause the talent and potential were enormous! Am thankful to still keep in touch with many of them especially in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. Also representing Malaysia were ONLY 2 staff. Persis and myself. Fate is not showing me but literally brightening up the path for me to pursue!!! “Knock on the head, Hello!!! This is your CHANCE!!!” and took it I did. Became more closer after that.

  1. 2nd Club 200 Conference 2005! This was THE DAY! My first ever role as an Emcee. Bloody nervous I was. I was paired up with Persis and she was the one who taught me the A-Zs of Emceeing. The Conference was organised by the “match-maker”, Donna, and what a place to have it, The Avillion in PD!!! My heart was 4eva jumping before this, wondering when & where should I do it??? Many times there were clear chances, but situation was far from perfect. So now came the chance, and once again, I took it and WON! HAHAHA! Guys, Nothing can beat the subtleness of the private beach with the soft waves flowing in, bringing along the wonderful sounds of calmness, the moon shining brightly, starts twinkling with delight, clear skies, romantic lights to set the mood, and only she and I standing on that beach…and if you fail, GOT DAM MAN!!! It is a gift from God, creating the perfect moment for you, but you will have to carry on from there. *Sigh*     HAHAHA!

  1. Emceeing and the KAO Dinner! Kumon develops and unleashes potential. And it DID indeed to me. Stage freight and no guts to talk in front of many, public speaking was not my type in ANY way. Yet 2 & a half years here, and I just love to emcee. It gives me great satisfaction not only to announce but to make Emceeing an ART! And what a beautiful art it had turned out to be. All thanks to you Persis. No other emcee partner would make me be that Artistic!!! The KAO Dinner was my biggest challenge to date. Most I did emceeing was in front of 100 plus people. This dinner had over 1000 people!!! Shook as I stood on stage. Transformed after talking for 10 seconds!!! Haha. And I have found a great group of singers in Nic, Dennis & Bernice. Another great group of Emcees, Dennis & Bernice, and the FUNNIEST person I have ever known, Nic! Life would suck in this company without him! Kudos man! The ending performance was like us being superstars, with everyone down on the floor dancing, shouting, screaming, and begging for more!!! Truly was an excellent moment!

And the Number ONE Most Memorable Moment in Kumon is…(drums rollin!!!)

  1. Persis!!! Without a shadow of a doubt, the MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT in Kumon can never be replaced by this person even if the list runs to 100. My dear, you are indeed the most influential person to me, as I begin my new job as a fresh grad, with no direction, knowledge or feelings toward the working life. Now my life has its meanings, has LIFE absorbed back into it, full of energy, GENKI! Hahaha! With you I had found a potential in myself, I had gained much more confidence, I had learnt further what Love is, I had matured in the working life faster, I had gained weight (not exactly my high point), I had seen a bright future, I had found Peace…With your departure from this Company to another, this company had lost one of its most precious jewels. The value of the company is in fact dropping greatly as many Jewels had left before and after you. Your former programme is now in dire straits, and you are so happy once again, in your new job, lost weight, lookin good, and planning for our next chapter in life together as ONE TEAM, ONE VISION! You are the most important reason why I will NEVER hate this Company, with exception of THOSE-WHO-SHALL-NOT-BE-NAMED. I Love You and you know that too…

…Weddings…

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Who would’ve thought that the most beautiful thing to happen to 2 individuals can be a f****** nightmare in the process!!!

Well, not so f***** bad, but really guys, whenever you plan your wedding in the future, it is advisable to either do it yourselves or totally leave it in the hands of your parents!

Well, lets move on to the next stage. Who would have known how much ‘RED-TAPE’ is involved in a wedding? The process, the courses, the choice of the dinner location, the day’s ceremony, the tea ceremony, the agreement between both families, the LIST of relatives and friends, and most frustrating one of all is the money!

Here now you have me, and I want everything to be great! Not only for me, but for my bride-to-be, families and friends. That is the hardest thing you know, but its something I wanna do cause it makes us feel good!

Attending numerous weddings all my life since I was a kid till adult now, I have been to a range of hotels to restaurants. And all this while I imagined a lavish setting, grand as it will be as if fantasy land had been created…But imagine when I say the BEST EVER wedding I attended was at the Overseas Restaurant @ Jalan Imbi!!! Cramp place, almost impossible to find parking, no grand feeling when one enters the restaurant. Then they serve the food, and begin the dinner etc etc. It turned out to be so great I can’t find one that has out done it at all, EVER so far! The food was FANTASTIC! The atmosphere was EXHILIRATING and it was a real family and friends get together enjoying the moment there and then!!!

So now, here I am, at the age of 25, planning my big day when I will be 26. Too early and young to settle down? Many have asked me, “Why so young? Enjoy your life before you commit yourself.” Yes, it is true, I do wanna enjoy my life, but how better to enjoy it with the ONE & ONES I love? It does not mean that once you settle down everything is gone. Bring her along for the gatherings, go along for HER gatherings etc. Breaking pre-conceptions right guys??? Hahaha!

Gone are the days when people settle down as early as in their 20’s. Now comes the era of getting hitched late in life. But that is what is happening. But we need not follow. I guess that’s me, born to be rebellious! Which I am actually…To a certain extent…

In life, Everything happens for a reason as I had recently mentioned to a friend. In some cases we might not know why it did, but somehow eventually we will.

So to those out there, regardless of the life you are in now, just live it to the fullest, and find happiness in everything you do!

Let the good times roll!!!

My blogs and life are
similar in certain ways. It has its ups and downs. My previous one was kinda
down and sad, with me feeling all frustrated at that period of time. In fact,
what other crap mood would anyone else have then???

Imagine, the event of
the decade literally! Biggest ever thing we hosted! The venue was perfect, the
guests were gleaming, the food kinda sucked, but overall, the whole event was a
joy…BUT how worthy was it? How much can we say, “WE did it?” cause we
practically just did our minor parts and could not care less if anything
screwed up!!! In fact, there were one too many who wished some thing had F*****
up so badly, we’d be the laughing stock of the entire world! Dunno should feel
good that nothing happened? Haa. Evil minds we have…

The discussions were
bad enough, the planning was much worse, and the execution was a complete
disaster! Showcasing the wondrous characters in the few we know, to elevate
them to a higher rank, a rank that states how F.O.S. they are. (FOS = Full of
Shit). Time was the ULTIMATE DISASTER, even Mr Bean can’t outdo the stupidity
that we reeked upon ourselves!!!
Imagine, a bunch of staff coming from all over

Klang

Valley

,
north, south, east & west, having to be at the venue at 6.30 in the morning
enduring the MASSIVE THUNDERSTORM that morning, with darkness as a thorn in
one’s journey to the venue. Potential / percentage of accidents happening
increased greatly. Vision blurred heavily…my heart felt a huge sigh of relief
when I saw each and every one of my dear colleagues safe and sound at the
venue…

Money wasted as well,
LOTS OF IT for your

ur

kind information. Then at long last, they realised they needed someone to
organise the dinner and since they got no time, my good fren was passed on the
job. So she gathered her ‘kaki’, and may I say, PROUDLY: Yanti, GREAT JOB!!!

With limited time,
bullshit from the powers that may be, and no apparent budget for the dinner, we
put on the show of the decade! All thanks to Yanti, Bernice, Dennis, Nic,
Akmal, the dancers, singers, etc. etc. and non from the above. Haha! If you
asked me, dinner played a vital role in the success of the Conference no doubt.

So you see, in the
midst of the shit we were stuck in, there still lies a glimmer of hope and
light that eventually shined its brightest ray during this dinner.

To us, we can’t do
much. No info till the month itself doesn’t spell but bloody speaks out
disaster! During the event, jealousy I felt greatly once again. Countries who
used to tail gate us have overtaken and sped forward with much pace. And we are
still driving at 60km/h since 5 years ago. Using the wrong petrol I guess. :P

Whether it is the
Franchisees or Staff, the support rendered was fantastic! The overseas
delegates contributed to the success. We sat back and frowned.

No ownership, not our
fault. Want to but given none. Requested to have but they do ‘one man shows’.
So if they want us to have ownership, but do not trust us to give us any, and
prefer to do things their respective ways and EXPECT us to have ownership??? I’m
getting bloody confused!!! GTH for all I care about peace and harmony! With
these individuals ‘saving the world’, that’s what they might achieve, the world
saved. But mankind and all living creatures related will cease to exist!

Then like life, it
goes up again. Tired and totally Exhausted after sleepless nights and very
early mornings, my Instructors and friends’ kind words boosted some morale at
least. At last a weekend tomorrow!!! Finally can go out pak toh. Miss holding
those soft & subtle hands my dear owns, her voice that strikes imbalance in
my head, everything is back to normal…

With dates confirmed,
next plan in the schedule must be executed! As we move forward my dear…

As things get better,
I look forward to more teamwork with the wonderful ppl I work with, leaving
those who had succumbed to the Dark Side of the Force behind, for dealing with
them will lead to pain & suffering which leads to hate, which leads to fear
which evidently is the path to the Dark Side…

But facing challenges
with these great friends of mine only makes ALL OF US grow stronger in mind and
knowledge!

To all of you, Thank
You!!! “You make life in this Hell hole worth living”
